Once green energy is more mainstream will conservatives pretend they always agreed with it?

I have noticed this happening over the last 3 years and find it bizarre how so many conservatives are now coming around after being so against clean energy. Why is this? I imagine they will because they seem more concerned with blending in than taking a stand for what they believe in.

1. Those on the right fail to see the vast potential for green energy. Switching over to green energy sources will most certainly boost our economy and create countless jobs. Of course there will be jobs lost in the fossil fuel industry, but it will be gradual and not immediate. For every job lost, there will be new jobs created in the research and development of new products, in the manufacturing of those new products, and in the installation and maintenance of those new products. Let's pretend for a second that global warming/climate change doesn't exist. What's the WORST thing that could happen? The Earth gets CLEANER? That's a sacrifice I'm willing to make even IF thousands of scientists are somehow wrong. Nuclear energy is not a viable option for a number of reasons. Nuclear power plants may not produce AIR pollution, but they do contaminate ground water and soil. Then of course there's the nuclear waste produced by nuclear power plants that NOONE in their right mind would want stored anywhere near their home. Fossil Fuels are appropriately named because they're beyond outdated. They are the fuel of the past. It's time we look to the FUTURE and tap into the vast potential of clean, renewable and abundant energy resources such as solar, wind and hydro power!
2. Conservatives have been trying to build Nuclear power plants since the 70's. Liberal wacko's have been preventing them from accomplishing them for the usually fallacious reasons that motives all liberal whacko's. Conservatives have been trying to implement hydro-electric power all over for decades, while liberal whacko's have been looking to protect the interests of the snail darter and salmon. Corporations have been trying to set up windmills while liberal whacko's like Ted Kennedy are blocking progress because it impedes their "view". It is big corporations trying to implement these "green" versions of power generation, while liberal whacko's have been blocking their progress with frivolous lawsuits on behalf of insects and spotted owls.
3. Yep. And so will everyone else. Conservatives are coming around to green energy because they're sick of being dependent on oil from the Middle East.
4. Quinn is correct. We've had "green" energy with nuclear power since the 1970's and the libs have fought it.
5. I imagine the green energy people will try to say , we did it, when wind, hydro, bio fuel, and renewal resource energy is finally crammed down far left green wacko,s throat, the greens will get on board with the Conservatives.
6. I'm a conservative that supports alternative energy, not only because of pollution, but because of the stranglehold that oil companies and OPEC have on us with price gouging.
